How often do you have the chance to spend your vacation in your own private, centuries-old ex-hacienda? Ideally situated in a small village midway between San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, our location allows you the freedom to explore a different colonial town every day. Upon opening the gates to your private domain each morning, you look across the square to the lovely ancient church, watch the slow comings and goings of daily village life, and step out onto the siiver trail. You can hike or ride for hours, having the countryside to yourselves. There is a large lake nearby. The villagers are friendly, and the area is very safe. Be forewarned: life at the hacienda is so enjoyable that you may not want to do all those other things that you had planned! After working out in our 15-piece Cybex gym, you can relax in our sunny swimming pool, heated with a dozen solar panels to assure year-round comfort, then soak in the jacuzzi. Sign up for spa services in our own private spa, such as massage therapy, hot stone massage, reflexology, facials, body wraps, haircuts and manicures, all very affordable! Sharpen your soccer skills on the field, or invite the locals to a friendly game of volleyball on your private sand court. You can start your day by horseback riding down to the river, to watch the eagles, or drive the short distance to Dolores Hidalgo, to continue your search for more beautiful talavera pottery and tiles. You can visit the natural hotsprings whose long tunnel, which ends in a cave with water gushing out, reminds you of a scene from Indiana Jones. Or spend the day at an olympic-size swimming pool filled with the same hot water. There is even golf and tennis to be found nearby.

The hacienda is comfortably elegant, furnished with colonial antiques and locally-made pieces, luxurious bedding with high thread-count linens and down beds or down-alternative beds atop high-quality pillow-top mattresses, down duvets, fresh flowers, robes, amenities basket, and nightly turn-down service with fine, locally-made chocolates. Our 14 propane fireplaces provide romantic warmth when the evenings turn cool. There are eleven beautiful bedrooms, ten of which are large suites, each with high-speed internet, sat. TV, propane fireplace, terrace, private bath.
Additional beds and linens can sleep up to 36 people total. Wireless internet is available throughout the porches and gardens. The hacienda is HUGE (approximately 50 rooms, and more than 40,000 sq. ft. under roof), but has many intimate spaces, and surrounds a large enclosed central garden with enormous porches (portales). It consists of 10 walled-in private acres, with gardens and stables that house a dozen horses. If you have stayed in busy San Miguel before, you will appreciate our quieter nights, peaceful days, and lack of auto traffic and fumes. Our water is purified, and many hot-and-cold bottled-water dispensers are located throughout the property. A large exercise room includes 15-piece Cybex professional weight-training equipment with Life Fitness eliptical trainer and Star Trac treadmill. A 16-person full-time staff includes cooks, housekeepers, gardeners, bilingual manager, chauffeur, stable and pool personnell. Our cooks will prepare delicious meals for you. They can accommodate any dietary preferences.
All our food is fresh, locally grown, with some of the organic produce grown here in our own gardens.
Chauffeurs with vans can be hired for the week for a very reasonable rate if you would prefer not to rent a car. It is so easy to maneuver the different colonial cities with your own private driver. Alejandro and Gerardo are eager to please, and will drop you off at your destination, pick you up wherever you want, then continue to the next place. They are willing to wait all day or evening for you.
We have 10 horses and 2 burros. Horses and mountain bikes are free of charge for our guests. Juan Antonio, our horse and stable caretaker, is our resident expert, and will be happy to accompany you across the river to show you some of the best riding areas. We can also provide a very knowledgable local bilingual guide for horses or mountain bikes and trail rides or car tours for a reasonable fee. This is a wonderful way to learn about the history of the silver trail, and to see things in the area that other tourists NEVER see.
We are child-friendly. The village is full of children. They quickly entice any visiting children into their giggling midsts. Language does not seem to be a problem. The kids that have stayed here do not want to leave when it’s time to go home.
